Eden Rising

Adam was a newborn baby, introduced in the second season of Eden Rising. Adam was the biological son of the Last Chance Society's leader John Smith and the society's nurse and "poster girl" Libby. He was a newborn whose birth was covered up to avoid controversy, as the strict rules Smith put up for the society blatantly restrict out-of-wedlock sex.

HistoryEdit

Pre-seriesEdit

Sometimes before the series started, Libby was impregnated with Adam by John Smith.

Season 2Edit

John Smith and Libby developed a scheme where Libby's pregnancy was hidden in order to avoid concentration. After the child's birth, he was hidden in the forest where, on an impromptu hunt, John Smith "discovered" the child and took him in.

It was revealed that Smith intended to replace the family he lost shortly after the apocalypse, and named Adam after the child he had with his wife. The first baby Adam and Smith's wife Annie are kept, reanimated, in the basement of the monastery where he feeds them human flesh to keep them around. He hopes having Adam and Libby around will help him finally let go of his former family, though he can't bring himself to do it.

Adam's disappearance is faked by Gareth and Ivy after Gareth is ordered by Father Warden to murder the child, but Gareth comes to his senses. Adam is taken into protection by Ivy and Benedict, who flee the Last Chance Society with a convoy of survivors during a civil war that threatens to tear the town apart. Darla, who is held captive by Maude, was left taking care of baby Adam.

Darla later escapes Maude's grasp with baby Adam in tow, but the two are brought back to the Last Chance Society, with Darla being accused of kidnapping the baby by John Smith's supporters. She is beaten and in the chaos, Adam's father was killed. Darla and the other survivors decided to take Adam with them, but when they are surrounded and Adam was dropped, Darla made the choice of not going back for the baby and left him to be devoured by infected.
