Gustavo Texta is a recurring character in A Long Road to Fortune.
Gustavo was part of the military during his youth along with Mr. Chet. After an unknown amount of time served, he was dishonorably discharged for his overly violent behavior, along with Mr. Chet's meddling. After leaving the military, Gustavo lived somewhere near Tecpan de Galeana and became a shut-in, collecting a variety of weapons and distancing himself away from society.
Gustavo took in people into a new, undisclosed fortress in the Gra. C. Ramos street in Tecpan, later revealed to be the Hermenegildo Galeana Elementary School. These people became grateful to him and now live in Tecpan together. Gustavo thinks of these people as his new army, but there have been hints to him also thinking of them as family.
Sometime later, Gustavo discovered there were people living in the marketplace. He plotted to kidnap their leader, Sgt. Mendoza but kidnapped Mr. Chet, Daniel, Jaime, and Aguila instead.
Gustavo is shown to be purposely passive-aggressive to accord to his manipulative nature. This is shown when he tried to manipulate Mr. Chet into surrendering himself. He leads his people with charisma and power, but makes them do violent things, like kidnapping and stealing. Gustavo is also very violent and aggressive. He goes so far as to tell Mr. Chet that his years in the military were "the best years of his life", inferring that he has killed a significant amount of people during his service.
