Impaled with a scythe in the back and skull ("Cutthroat Jugulators and Crying Little People")
Nothing is known about Javier's life before the apocalypse. At some point he had a son with an unknown woman, named Kelvin.
It is seen in Ash's flashbacks in "Birthday" that Javier was one of the first people from Glenley to meet Ash. He made a case and protected Ash alongside fellow sheriff Tom Snyder, taking the boy in to live alongside him and his son Kelvin.
Javier was shown to have a very authoritarian and strict approach to his parenting, and that carried over into how he managed the town. While Kelvin was submissive of his father, always eager to please, Ash was less than thrilled with his new protector and constantly rebelled against him. After a fight between them, Ash ran away from Javier's home and went to stay with Tom and his daughter Darla.Despite his personal problems, Javier was a strong fighter and a smooth negotiator, as seen in his standoff with The General after the tyrant overruns Glenley. He eventually was killed in the takeover by a mutated zombie with a scythe for an arm, which impaled him through the chest and then gave Javier a killing blow through the side of his head.
