|Maximiliano "Max" Gomes|
Kid in the apocalypse
|Time On Story||
Issue 6 - present
Max Gomes is a major character in A Long Road to Fortune.
Max was born in 1998 to a teenage Sandra in a hospital in Acapulco, Guerrero. Despite being forced to raise him under such circumstances, Max did not impede his mother from finishing school and becoming a nurse. Max never met his father, who moved out from Tecpan along with the rest of his family when he was still an infant. Max doesn't care though, he's got his mom. Raised by his grandmother and his mother simultaneously, Max became a sociable yet quiet and intelligent young boy.
Though unknown circumstances, Max and his mother ended up taking refuge in the marketplace during the early stages of the apocalypse.
After Ashton's arrival and the grosero attack on the marketplace caused by Paco Barrera, Max was saved by the former from being eaten by a grosero. Ashton managed rescue him and narrowly escaped death in the process. When Ashton goes missing attempting to secure Mr. Chet, Max is worried about him and takes offense to Mario Galeana's cruel jokes about his potential demise. Max later takes refuge with his mother as soon as Saul Mendrena begins his attack on the marketplace.
To be added.
Unlike one would expect, Max's lack of static and playful energy don't reduce him to be a simple hyperactive, interchangeable young boy. What Max possesses in place of such is a knack for observation, ingenuity, and philosophy, traits that make curiously want to understand his surroundings. Raised by a stern, yet friendly mother, Max isn't loud or obnoxious like it would be expected for somebody his age, and his proper morale only mirrors the success his mother Sandra achieved in raising him.
While Max is naive of the true nature of the world, he is slowly welcoming it all second-hand, watching the adults who keep him safe fight for what they hold. What will become of Max in this reality isn't a thought that occupies his mind, but rather, what he can learn from each individual he meets. These traits make Max an interesting preteen.
